Em’s Dog Treats

SAM_1404*makes 70 small/medium treats, you could easily halve the recipe!*

2 tsp dry yeast

1/2 cup lukewarm water

2 Tbsp parsley, chopped

1 small/medium carrot, grated

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Marmite (optional)

1 1/2 cups chicken/beef stock

2 Tbsp honey

1 egg

5-6 cups flour

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in the parsley, carrot, garlic, Marmite, stock, honey, and egg. Gradually add the flour, adding enough to form a stiff dough. Kneed dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes. Roll out dough with a floured rolling pin. Cut out shapes with a cookie cutter and place on greased trays. Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes or until lightly golden, you may need to flip the biscuits over and bake for a while longer for both sides to be nicely golden. Let cool on a wire rack (You don’t wanna burn your best bud’s mouth!), the biscuits will harden as they cool down. Keep your biscuits stored in an air tight container and they should last for up to a week, they also could be easily frozen.

I have experimented with a lot of dog treat recipes and come up with my own recipe. I love how easy this recipe is to whip up. Make sure you keep an eye on your dog treats while they bake, they brown very fast. This recipe makes enough biscuits for you to share with doggie friends and you’ll still have lots for your buddy. These biscuits make great reward treats and can be used while training your dog.
