Peach Clafoutis


“Clafoutis, sometimes in Anglophone countries spelled clafouti, is a baked French dessert of fruit, traditionally black cherries arranged in a buttered dish and covered with a thick flan-like batter. The clafoutis is dusted with powdered sugar and served lukewarm, sometimes with cream.” – Wikipedia

I would describe this pudding as being very cake-like. Someone may of forgotten that they had put the pudding in the oven (haha not me of course…) so my pudding had an almost crunchy crust layer on the top. I will use a larger baking dish next time as I think my pudding was to tall, this probably contributed to the slightly crunchy top but it was still delicious.


100g peaches, fresh, chopped

3 Tbs sugar

4 eggs

2 cups flour

3/4 cup sugar

1 cup milk


Spread the peaches into a greased oven proof dish and sprinkle the sugar over the top of fruit and set aside. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, eggs and then add the milk slowly. Beat with electric mixer until there are no more lumps. Pour the batter into the oven dish slowly (over the top of fruit and sugar). Bake at 180 degrees for 50 minutes. Serve warm if possible.

Serves 8.


A delicious and unusual pudding. You can use all sorts of fresh fruit that you have on hand and this is a good way to get rid of squishy fruit. Great served warm with milk, cream , ice cream or custard!
