I use the recipe all the time for loaves, rolls and pizza bases (pizza bases will require you to double the mixture if you are serving 4 people). This recipe is just so easy to make and you can use the dough in so many different ways. A truly delicious recipe for any bread lover.
Basic bread Recipe
2 teaspoons yeast
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup warm water
1 Tablespoon oil or butter
2-3 cups flour
salt to taste
Mix the yeast, sugar and warm water together. Add the oil/butter, cover with a tea-towel and allow to stand in a warm place for 10 minutes, or until the yeast starts frothing.
Stir enough flour into the bubbly yeast to make a dough firm enough to knead.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Form dough into a ball and place back in the bowl with a dribble of oil, cover and leave to rise until the dough has doubled in size.
Punch the dough down with your fist and sprinkle with salt.
Knead dough again thoroughly and shape as you like!
